Community Engagement Intern
Project Summary
We are seeking an intern to support planning and development of events and programs for the commemoration of 50 years of Hmong Americans in Minnesota. The intern will support establishing and nurturing trusting, mutually beneficial relationships with the Hmong and Southeast Asian communities in Minnesota. The intern will assist in community outreach, gathering community input, and event planning. This position will also support communications between the Hmong Advisory Task Force and MNHS staff.

- Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings to attend community events, meetings, or programs
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient written and spoken skills in Hmong is preferred, though not required
- Experience working with BIPOC communities
In collaboration with the Community Engagement Manager:
- Design and implement activities, programs and events for the commemoration of 50 years of Hmong Americans in Minnesota
- Collect community input on commemorative programs by conducting surveys, focus groups, by attending community events and by other evaluation methods
- Work with Social Media Manager and MNHS staff to create social media content and promotional materials to share historical resources and stories, and to raise awareness of commemorative events
- Meet and communicate with Hmong Advisory Task Force members and other community members as needed
- Meet with MNHS staff and attend department meetings as needed
- Familiarity with MNHS resources
