Dear Sir:-
	We are in receipt of your
letter of the 24th and making inquiry concerning, “Gilbert H.
Stephenson.” In reply, we beg to say that we were very greatly surprised
that this person was any way connected with the crime with which he was charged
as we had found him to be exceptionally honest and industrious while employed by
us and we regretted to lose him. The only conclusion we could come to concerning
this man was, that he must have been influenced by others: and  and (sic) we
doubt what he realized at any time the seriousness of being

be a person having criminal tendencies.
